Arkaba is an inspiring experience in South Australia’s Ikara-Flinders Ranges, worlds away from the typical hotel stay. This 1850s homestead is the Luxury Lodge of Australia in the Flinders. Five ensuite guestrooms have been beautifully restored in line with the property’s pioneering history, the rooms are rustically chic and supremely comfortable. Hosted dinners while sharing stories with our guides and fellow guests provides an atmosphere more akin to staying with friends in the country, or a private safari lodge than a typical luxury hotel. With no telephones, televisions or Wi-Fi, we invite you to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of everyday modern life. Arkaba is a 5 hour drive north of Adelaide.
- Take the Princes Highway (A1) out of Adelaide and turn right 300kms later onto Flinders Ranges Way (B83) before you reach Port Augusta. Continue through Quorn until you reach the town of Hawker, turn right onto Flinders Ranges Way, signposted as Wilpena. About 22km later you will see a sign for Arkaba on the left with a white oil drum labelled ‘Arkaba H.S', follow the driveway to the Homestead.
- Navigation aids won't work past Hawker and without the help of detailed point-by-point drive directions you may not easily find your way to the Arkaba.
