Malua Bay

Malua Bay is just a 15 minutes' drive from the modern seaside resort of Batemans Bay, which commands peerless views to both the hinterland mountains and across the ocean to islands dotting the horizon.

With its headwaters located in the pristine high country behind the NSW South Coast, the Clyde River, near which the town stands, is acknowledged as the purest river in Australia and its flow is integral to a flourishing oyster industry.

The lure of succulent oysters and crayfish apart, Batemans Bay is a prized destination both for fishermen and holiday-makers drawn by the combination of river cruises, great golf courses, bush walks, superb beaches to the north and south of the town and a vigorous club and restaurant scene.

The fishing attractions, of course, stem from Batemans Bay"s location on the estuary of the Clyde River. Anglers have the choice of river, beach, rock and ocean fishing options. Batemans Bay, of course, was introduced to the world game-fishing stage by famous US novelist and sportsman Zane Gray, who wrote glowingly of this part of the NSW south coast after landing a black marlin during his visit in the early 1930s.
