Woolloongabba

Woolloongabba is a world-famous southern inner-city suburb of Brisbane, Queensland"s capital. The reason for its worldwide renown is, of course, The "Gabba, as the Brisbane Cricket Ground is better known.

The "Gabba dates back to 1895, when the land was designated as the site for a cricket ground. It is now a venue for several sports, including cricket, AFL, rugby union and Olympic soccer matches.

Woolloongabba is only about 1km from Brisbane's CBD, lying south of the Brisbane River. It has an eclectic mix of Queenslander houses, units and retail and commercial buildings.

The suburb is not far from Brisbane"s favourite playground for young and old alike, Southbank Parklands. The parklands has its own beach, gardens and cafes, as well as the attractions of the Cultural Precinct, including the Queesland Museum, Queensland Performing Arts Complex and Queensland Art Gallery.
