Seaforth

This peaceful little fishing village about 50km north of Mackay is favoured for its sheltered position in the arms of Halliday Bay. It's a great fishing, boating and camping spot.

At low tide you can walk out along the mud flats from Finlayson Point to the minuscule Redcliff Islands. Cape Hillsborough and Wedge Island National Parks are just a short drive away.

If you're looking for great fishing in tranquil surroundings, safe boating, gorgeous scenery, and superb local seafood, this is the spot. The local, all-tide boat ramp gives access to a wide range of fishing spots among the off-shore islands.

It"s quite safe to head out from Seaforth in a small tinny to try your luck among the reef fish off islands including Rabbit, Newry, Mousleum and Acacia, while you will need a larger craft if you set a course to the Smith group on the Cumberland Channel.

And it's not far back to bustling Mackay if the peace and quiet get too much for you.
