The Pilbara

The Pilbara region covers 500 000 square kilometres and covers a 2.5 billion year old landscape, therefore boasting some of the world’s most ancient natural landscapes. This region showcases some of Australia’s most spectacular natural assets that are like no other. Rudall River and Karijini are world class national parks that make up part of this beautiful region. From the deep roots and soil of the Australian outback with red rocky canyons to the hundreds of impressive white beach and coral gardens, the Pilbara region is able to provide a vast array of activities to suit all, from plunge pools and cascading waterfalls to world-class boating, fishing, diving and snorkelling off the coast.

Nature in the outback provides some experiences that cannot be replaced, including watching the female turtles lay their eggs, to newly hatched babies making their way in to the ocean. If you are visiting between March and October be sure not to miss the natural phenomenon known as the Staircase to the Moon. This is where the full moon reflects on the exposed mudflats at extremely low tide creating an optical illusion of a staircase reaching the moon.
