Corlette

Port Stephens, NSW is dotted with special sea-side jewels and Corlette is one of them. Sitting on the Tomaree peninsula at the eastern end of Port Stephens, Corlette is 5 minutes from Nelson Bay, making it secluded enough to offer a beach and water sport holiday while within distance of cafes, shopping and town entertainment. The marina and large luxury resort is the main attraction in the township with boat charters and deep sea fishing, diving, sea kayaking, scenic flights and dolphin watching.

The "Port" is home to about 160 bottlenose dolphins, who take as much pleasure riding the bow waves of observer craft, as the passengers get from watching them at play. Twice a year Port Stephens also hosts pods of humpback whales as they make their migratory journey north to the warmer waters off Queensland, to breed.

In the area, 4WD enthusiasts may enjoy a tour into the Watagans in the Wyong hinterlands where spur trails branch off from the main tourist dirt roads.

The resort town is named after Captain Corlette who transported timber and wool to Sydney in the early 1800s.
