Barooga

The developing NSW Riverina town of Barooga is becoming an increasingly popular Murray River resort. Barooga's major attractions are a stunning setting, sandy river beaches and local vineyards.

Seppelts have tastings at Kramner Cellars, while you can visit Tyrells at their Heritage Farm Winery a couple of kilometres west of Cobram on the Victorian side of the river.

Citrus and grapes are the staple products around Barooga, while Italian migrants have built the Cobram region into a significant stone fruit producer. Cobram hosts an annual Peaches and Cream Festival.

Proof that the boomerang does come back is supplied by experts who demonstrate the wide range of Aboriginal throwing sticks crafted by Barooga"s Binghi Boomerangs.

The Daveile Gallery and its singular collection of 19th century oil lamps are set in deilightful gardens where you can relax over a traditional Devonshire tea.

In winter, it's time to wax the skis as the snowfields are just 80 km away.
