Upwey

Upwey is a village set in the foothills to the Dandenong Ranges, where the homes are built in the heavily-treed hills. It basks in the natural magic of Ferntree Gully and the Dandenongs.

Fifty kilometres from the Melbourne CBD, the Dandenongs are renowned for their natural beauty and have long been a popular weekend retreat from the city.

Puffing Billy Historic Steam Train operates daily between Belgrave and Gembrook, taking a meandering journey through the heart of the Dandenong Ranges past superb rainforests encompassing one of the world"s largest mountain ash forests.

The National Rhododendron Gardens in Olinda put on a spectacular show of colour in season. William Ricketts Sanctuary features sculptures in a bushland setting. There are some stunning gardens in the area, some open to the public at certain times of the year.

The villages and towns of the Dandenong Ranges are bursting with art and craft galleries, antiques stores and tea rooms. Enjoying a Devonshire tea is something of a Dandenongs tradition.
