Kingston S.E.

The spirit of manana is abroad in Kingston, northern portal to the state's southern ports and playground of the South-East.

The town's beaches are among the safest in the state and swimmers and sailors share the calm waters of Lacepede Bay with dolphins, while seals and sea lions bask on the beach.

The sea off Cape Jaffa, over which a 100-year-old plus lighthouse stands guard, attracts divers to its underwater treasure of wrecks and limestone reefs.

Above all, however, Kingston is a paradise for anglers and lobster fanciers. In fact the town's dominant landmark is Larry the Lobster, towering over the northern entrance to the town.

A fleet of 40 lobster boats operate out of the port, but if the delectable crawfish is a bit rich for your tastes or your allergies, settle for a fresh mullet or tommy ruff caught off the beach or a whiting or mulloway snared from the jetty.

It is a town which is also tailored for strolling, with plenty of parks to stop for a spell while you take in the natural and man-made sights.
