Beckom

One of the smaller towns in the Coolamon Shire, Beckom has a population of only 80, but shares in the region's rating as one of the richest agricultural and pastoral districts in the Riverina. Coolamon takes its name from the Aboriginal word for "dish or vessel for holding water," which is particularly apt as the distinctive feature of the original landscape was a cluster of waterholes.

Beckom and its sister Coolamon towns enjoy the best of both worlds - the comfortable, relaxed ambience of rural living, with the facilities, amenities and entertainment of Wagga Wagga within comfortable driving distance.

Coolamon, the administrative centre of the shire, lies at about the halfway mark to Wagga. Wagga, of course, is a major provincial centre and the largest inland city in NSW. The city boasts a fine Art Gallery and Museum and a miniature railway runs through the Botanic Gardens and Zoo on Williams Hill.
