Thirroul

Thirroul is an established residential and parkland area, Thirroul is named from an Aboriginal word meaning 'the place or valley of the cabbage tree palms'. Land was used mainly for farming and timber- getting. Growth took place 1880's, spurred by the construction of the railway line and coal mining. Major features of the area include Thirroul Beach the resting place of the famous shipwreck Amy, Lady Fuller Park, Taupu Surf School, Thirroul Seaside and Arts Festival, Hanglideoz, Canoe and Kayak Adventures and Warren Windsports.
