Queensland Islands
Where else but Queensland will you find the most dazzling array of island resorts under the sun? Whether you’re looking for a casual getaway or an indulgent escape, Queensland’s beautiful islands cater for all
ages, tastes and budgets.
Queensland boasts an inviting array of easily accessible islands, where you’ll find unspoilt beaches, rainforests and superb resorts. The islands offer a unique holiday experience and with resorts in Tropical North Queensland, the Whitsundays and Southern Queensland, your hardest decision will be to choose the perfect escape. Whether you’re after a secluded romantic getaway, non-stop action, the opportunity to meet new people or quality family time, there’s a Queensland island holiday to suit.
Many of Queensland’s islands are fortunate to have the best of both worlds; spectacular coral reef and lush rainforests or national parks. Snorkel or scuba dive the World Heritage Listed Great Barrier Reef teeming with colourful fish and coral. Access the reef directly from the beach at Lizard, Green, Heron, Wilson and Lady Elliot Island’s, or discover the outer reef on a day tour from the Whitsundays.
Explore the rainforest or national parks with a nature walk and see abundant wildlife. Hinchinbrook Island is a nature lover’s paradise with virgin rainforest and prolific marine and bird life. Discover Fraser Island, the world’s largest sand island, hand feed wild dolphins at Tangalooma Wild Dolphin Resort or be amazed by the turtle nesting from November to April at Lady Elliot, Heron or Wilson Islands. From June to November catch a glimpse of majestic whales as they migrate along the Queensland coastline as far north as the Whitsundays.

Weather Guide
Summer 22ºC to 30ºC
Autumn 16ºC to 29ºC
Winter 12ºC to 23ºC
Spring 16ºC to 30ºC
What to bring
On the Queensland Islands casual dress standards apply. Lightweight clothing
is suitable all year round, however bring something warm to slip on, as the temperature drops at night during winter. To ensure adequate protection from the sun we suggest you bring a broad-brimmed hat, SPF 30+ sunscreen, sunglasses and a long sleeved shirt with a collar.
Beach Safety
Queensland has some of the world’s best beaches, however care and caution should be exercised at all times. Please remember to swim between the red
and yellow flags and listen to instructions from lifesavers and lifeguards.
Marine Stingers
The Queensland Islands, unlike mainland beaches in Northern Australia are historically not affected by the deadly Box Jellyfish. However, like many oceans
during some months there can be the presence of marine life capable of delivering painful stings.
