Townsville: Travel Tips
Weather Guide
Townsivlle North Queensland temperature average
Summer 23ºC to 31ºC
Autumn 19ºC to 30ºC
Winter 16ºC to 27ºC
Spring 18ºC to 30ºC
What to bring
Most Queenslanders dress informally, although reasonable dress standards are maintained in restaurants, hotels and bars. Lightweight clothing is suitable all year round; however bring something
warm to slip on as the temperature drops at nightduring winter. To ensure adequate protection from the sun we suggest you bring a broad-brimmed hat,
SPF 30+ sunscreen, sunglasses and a long sleeved shirt with a collar.
Beach Safety
Queensland has some of the world’s best beaches, however care and caution should be exercised at all times. Please remember to swim between the red
and yellow flags and listen to instructions from lifesavers and lifeguards.
Marine Stingers
Marine Stingers are present in coastal waters from October to June, so please heed warning signs and instructions. Many beaches have netted enclosures
for safe swimming. The good news is that stingers do not inhabit the Outer Reef, so make sure you take the opportunity to experience one of the
world’s great wonders!
