Coorparoo
Just a few kilometres south of Brisbane's CBD, the pleasant, leafy suburb of Coorparoo is cushioned from the vibrations of the city on its west by Norman Creek and the suburb of East Brisbane.
The extensive Wembley Park is a major gathering point for Coorparoo locals, and the South Bank complex on the Brisbane River, with all its many distractions, is close by.
Built on the site of Expo 88, South Bank with its restaurants, tropical and exotic gardens, rainforest walks, cycleways and sandy-beached lagoon complements the Queensland Cultural Centre precinct which embraces theatres, the Art Gallery and Public Library.
Directly across the river, the lights of Brisbane City light up the night skies out this way, tempting residents to savour varied delights - theatres and great restaurants, nightclubs and, arguably, Australia"s most elegant casino which is housed in the historic Treasury Building.
