Mirboo North

Situated on a high spot on the Grand Ridge Road in the heart of the Strzelecki Ranges, Mirboo North boasts scenic views overlooking the South Gippsland and Latrobe valleys. It is a tranquil, friendly town, well-known for its local arts and crafts.

It is also home to the Grand Ridge Brewery, which produces Gippsland's own range of premium beers and stout which include Supershine whose extra strength (11 per cent alcohol) places it at the crossover point between ale and barley wine. The area also is home to emu and lavender farms.

Mirboo"s special magic, however, is to be found off the beaten track in tranquil corners such as the Mirboo North-Boolarra Rail Trail, Turton Creek Falls and the Lyrebird Forest Reserve just north of town. A 4.8 km looped track takes visitors on an enchanting walk through native trees, bushes and king ferns which harbour the amazing lyrebird, crimson rosellas and yellow-tailed cockatoos. A giant grey gum in the Darlimurla area is more than 200 years old. And, of course, there is the Ridge Road which presents a stunning tourist drive stretching from Warragul, through Mirboo and the ranges and on to the Tarra Bulga National Park.
