Preston

Preston and its neighbouring suburbs of the Darebin municipality in Melbourne lie in the shadow of the highest peak in the metropolitan area. Named for the first farmer in the region, Horatio Cooper, Mt Cooper is part of Bundoora Park.

Located on the site of a horse stud established by Samuel Gardiner in 1877, Bundoora Park is a remarkable green oasis in the heart of inner north-west Melbourne suburbia. It is an interactive park where visitors can try their hand at farming, assist in the restoration of a living museum, catch a yabbie in the dam, wander among 300-year-old red gums, fly a kite, set up the easel before bushland scenes that have not changed since they enchanted the likes of Frederick McCubbin and Tom Roberts, relax over a BBQ lunch, point the camera at a kangaroo or the native birds or just bask in the views from the top of the mountain.

Bundoora, the name the local Aboriginals gave to 'a place of many kangaroos', is just a few minutes from the Melbourne CBD.
