Rosanna

Rosanna is a pleasant residential precinct fringing the green belt of the Yarra Valley which enhances the lifestyle on those living in the inner-north eastern suburbs of metropolitan Melbourne.

Rosanna is part of the recently-formed City of Banyule, which, of course, inherited one of the very special links with one of the most influential movements in the development of Australian art.

Formed by the leaders of Australian Impressionism, Tom Roberts, Arthur Streeton and Frederick McCubbin, the Heidelberg School attracted large numbers of artists intent on using the techniques of the French Impressionists to capture Australian landscapes. School artists travelled by train to the area where they set up camps from which they prowled the bush in search of inspiration.

Art-lovers who wish to retrace the path blazed by the artists of the late 19th and early 20th century can take the council's Heidelberg heritage trail.
