Newport

Newport is set in one of Sydney"s most delightful areas at the southern end of a peninsula that stretches north to Barrenjoey Point. The peninsula is found to the west by the aquatic, recreational playground of the Pittwater and to the east by the Pacific Ocean. Newport, which offers direct access to such Pittwater gems as Church Point, Lovett Bay and Scotland Island, is graced by a surf beach with which it shares a name and one of Sydney"s "in" pubs, the Newport Arms, one of the few metropolitan hotels perched directly on the waterfront. Although some of Australia"s richest and most influential have established secluded retreats on the peninsula where they entertain their equally rich and famous friends, the strip of beaches - Newport, Bilgola, Avalon, Whale and Palm - remain very much part of Sydney"s public domain.
