North Beach

North Beach is a solid, well-settled beachside suburb about 16km north-west of Perth's CBD. Unfortunately, the beach itself is studded with limestone outcrops and rocks which tend to turn off swimmers and surfers. The locals much prefer the beaches to the south and toddle off down to Trigg Beach and neighbouring Scarborough. But, it's a sad heart that never rejoices, because the rocks here at North Beach, and a nice little jetty up the road at Waterman, provide perfect perches for fisherfolk on the trail of the plentiful schools of herring. There are plenty of parks and sporting fields to enjoy around North Beach. About 5km north of North Beach is the big Hillarys Boat Harbour development which, apart from having all the facilities desired by the most demanding boaties, is home to Underwater World. Here you'll see captivating bottlenose dolphins in their Dolphin Sanctuary and watch divers hand feeding the marine animals daily. At Microworld, you can zoom in on tiny marine animals using high-tech video cameras and at the Touch Pool you can get on close terms with turtles, sea stars and even a shark!
