Victoria Park

Drive east out of Perth's CBD, over the causeway across the Swan River, and one of the first suburbs you'll encounter, off to your right hand side, is East Victoria Park.

This solid, old suburb is home to Curtin University of Technology and the Western Australian Technology Park. Close to the city, East Victoria Park is also central to most of Perth's major sporting venues, such as the WACA sports ground, Gloucester Park harness racing track, Belmont and Ascot racetracks and Cannington Central greyhounds.

Burswood Casino, too, is just down the road. Head back over the Causeway into the centre of one of Australia's most attractive cities and one of the nation"s most enjoyed parks.

Kings Park has some of the best views of any Australian city and includes a 17ha botanic garden and a swathe of the natural bushland which draped the area before white settlement. In spring, the wildflowers for which WA is known worldwide dress the park in a colourful display.

The park is criss-crossed by pleasant walking, horse riding and bicycle tracks. The Federation Walkway is a combination of ground level paths, elevated walkways and a steel and glass bridge. It passes through some of the park"s key areas in spectacular style, and is a must-do for visitors to the park.
