Rowville

Rowville is a predominantly residential enclave in the City of Knox which sits in the shadow of the Dandenong Ranges in Melbourne's south-eastern suburbs.

It is a municipality well off for art, leisure and sporting centres and stadium and in recreational parkland. The centre of Knox is 26km from the Melbourne CBD and the suburb of Rowville is but a short drive from the wonderland of The Dandenong Ranges.

Rich volcanic soils and an abundance of rain have combined to produce a canopy of lush vegetation in the ranges, and much of the bushland lies within protected national parkland.

In colonial times, the ranges were a cooler, summer retreat for the gentry, but today Melbournians of all backgrounds are regular day-trippers and weekend visitors. Although most of the ranges and their spectacular waterfalls, creeks and lookouts are locked into parks, a string of charmingly diverse towns and villages add to the region's allure.
