Sea Lake

An eon or two have passed since this Mallee town had glimpses of the ocean and it takes its name from nearby saltwater Lake Tyrrell rather than any perceived proximity to the sea.

The lake produces a bountiful harvest of salt, and Sea Lake is also the commercial centre for surrounding mixed farmland. The small town is also graced with the freshwater Green Lake which is a popular spot for travellers.

An aquatic oasis and playground set in fields of wheat to the south of the township, pretty Sea Lake is surrounded by sandy beaches, powered camping sites, and picnic and barbecuing areas laid out beneath shady gums. The lake is safe for swimmers, boating, windsurfing and waterskiing and is generous in offering a feed of fresh fish or yabbies.

Set on the Calder Highway 70km west of Swan Hill, Sea Lake is within comfortable driving distance of Mildura and Bendigo and a chain of conservation reserves including Hattah-Kulkyne, Murray River Sunset and Wyperfield National Parks.
