Chelsea

The southern Melbourne coastal suburb of Chelsea is on the Nepean Highway, about halfway between Mordialloc and Frankston, the gateway to the Mornington Peninsula.

There is a wetlands environmental park in the neighbouring northern suburb of Edithvale, while the Patterson River and lakes lie just to the south.

Major roads and the railway give direct access to the Melbourne CBD and the Mornington Peninsula, with its network of resort towns, vineyards, surfing beaches, fishing grounds, national parks and reserves, wineries and lookouts which present superb views to Western Port and across Port Phillip Bay to the Bellarine Peninsula.

This eastern bayside strip of Melbourne probably boasts more golf courses per square kilometre than anywhere else in Australia. It embraces Melbourne"s famous sand belt and takes in such celebrated courses as Kingston Heath, Metropolitan and the daddy of them all, Royal Melbourne.

Royal Melbourne"s West course was designed by one of the great gold architects, Alistair Mackenzie, whose genius also created Augusta and Cypress Point in the USA, while his partner, Alex Russell, drew up the blueprint for the East course.
