This Melbourne suburb of Oakleigh, about 16km south-east of the city centre along the Princes Highway, is mainly a residential area with a mix of some light industry. It's central to seven major golf courses, including the renowned Huntingdale and Metropolitan courses, Riversdale, Commonwealth and Yarra Yarra. And just down the road a bit is the lovely Caulfield racecourse, home of the classic Caulfield Cup - a major lead up race to the Melbourne Cup at Flemington, the race that stops a nation on the first Tuesday in November every year. Australia's only Racing Museum is part of the Caulfield racecourse complex. Of course, the vibrant city of Melbourne and all it has to offer is just a few minutes away. Caulfield also boasts two of Melbourne's great historic homes - Lambassa, a French Renaissance mansion built in Maner Grove in 1890, and Rippon Lea, one of the last of Australia's grand, privately-owned 19th century suburban estates.
