About 250km north of Perth, Jurien Bay is a veritable haven for fisherfolk and the centre of lucrative fishing and lobster industries. There's a great inland boat harbour and inland marina here covering more than 17ha, and the beaches are sheltered and pristine thanks to loads of reefs and offshore islands that protect this part of the coast.

Jurien folk bless the fishing fleet in November in a colourful ceremony and they'll even show you around the big, lucrative rock lobster processing factory during the season.

The wind surfing conditions up this way are considered to be among the best in the world, and they also turn it on for scuba divers, snorkellers, surfers, power boat enthusiasts and more conventional sailors.

There"s great beach fishing at Island Point, south of town, and off the jetty, the groins of the marina and out to sea for groper, dhufish, snapper and a swag of other varieties. You"ll find some spectacular sand dunes along the coast, and the whole area around and about Jurien Bay is heaven for four-wheel drive enthusiasts.
