Narembeen

Narembeen is located a three and a half hour drive east of Perth and about 70 kilometres south of Merredin. It lies in Western Australia's wheat belt area. Narembeen, named after its aboriginal heritage, as the 'place of the female emu', offers visitors country hospitality and scenery that reflects Western Australia's true farming lifestyle. Narembeen is largely a farming town but the region also has a lot of beautiful, purple flowered jacaranda trees. Native merritt trees also grow in great abundance. The trees' strong, straight wood was historically used by Aboriginal people for making spears. Enjoy yourself on nature trails as you take in tall salmon gums, native animals and during spring, splendid wildflowers. Climb majestic granite outcrops, swim in some of our many lakes or camp in one of the numerous reserves. Nature enthusiasts will adore the undisturbed beauty of Narembeen. Watch out as you drive through Narembeen for families of sculptured emus in the most unlikely places. Many of the shops located on the main street will bring you back to the 1950s. Interpretive displays will give you very interesting details of these remarkable buildings. Walkers Lake Walk Trail is a 20 minute walk trail around the lake and is an enjoyable stroll. Rest stops are provided along the way for you to enjoy the surroundings. Sunset offers the most scenic time to visit this natural setting. Hotel and motel accommodation is available.
