Calivil

Calivil is an irrigation district in north-central Victoria with water sourced from Lake Eildon through the Warranga channel. Dairy herds dominate the surrounding farming land.

Interestingly, there is no town or shop to service the handful of residents and the hub of the district is The Reserve.

Set in the Pompapiel Forest, the reserve is framed by a natural backdrop of shade trees. It embraces eight tennis courts, an 18-hole golf course, two netball courts, football ground, bowling green, cricket pitch and pony club with attendant amenities.

Flanked by the War Memorial and a children's playground, the community hall stands at the entrance to the reserve.

Calivil is within comfortable driving distance of Terrick Terrick National Park - a 3760ha reserve set on Mt Terrick Terrick - a low granite outcrop better known to the locals as Mitiamo Rock.

The park preserves a number of endangered plants, native animals and birds and some water holes used for eons by Aborigines. There is a well maintained picnic ground and an overnight camping area at the base of Mitiamo Rock.
