St James

St James is a small, northern Victoria town in the eastern reaches of the Moira Shire whose 3950sq km are bound by the Murray, Goulburn and Owens rivers.

It's a region where traditional primary production is being increasingly supported by the tourism and eco-tourism industries as more visitors are drawn to the inland waterways.

Tourists are primarily drawn by the mighty Murray River in which they can swim, ski, paddle, fish or simply enjoy the romantic history of the paddle-steamer era.

The Murray hosts a number of bushland reserves and the Moira stretch includes Barmah State Park and State Forest which share the largest red gum forest in Victoria.

The shire's attractions within comfortable driving distance of St James include the Coonanga historical homestead and museum near Cobram, the Katamatite Mud Brick Museum, the Tudor Clock House Museum at Yarrawonga and historic Byramine Homestead between Yarrawonga and Mulwala.
