Pyramid Hill

One hundred kilometres north of Bendigo, Pyramid Hill is at the centre of a varied conservation parkland region.

One of the more prominent is the Terrick Terrick National Park which embraces 2500ha of native bushland pockets set amid granite outcrops. Lookouts atop the granite platforms command panoramic views of the irrigated district which has been given over mainly to wheat-growing.

The most southerly outcrop, Mitiamo Rock, is adjacent to a picnic ground which leads to walking trails through a forest reserve that supports a wide variety of birdlife.

The unusually-shaped, 187m high hill from which the town takes its name is famous for its 'braille-trail' walk to the summit. It is a comfortable climb for both the sighted and the blind.

The region contains some of Victoria's largest brolga nesting sites. Pyramid Hill is part of the Loddon tourist region which includes such famous old gold mining towns as Wedderburn and Inglewood.
