Broadview

One of Adelaide's older, firmly-established communities in the city's north-east, Broadview is experiencing a period of cultural shock as more and more upwardly mobile young executives discover the joys of inner-suburban life.

The influx of young affluent people prepared to open their wallets to modernise older properties has led to a surge in home prices in a pleasant area that is well endowed in parkland and is just 15 minutes by bus from the centre of Adelaide.

The links to Broadview's past are preserved in old bluestone homes and such historic buildings as Barton Vale House. Once a shelter for delinquent young ladies, Barton Vale is now a home for the aged.

The magnificent parkland of North Adelaide which is the centrepiece of the green belt which girdles Adelaide city, is but a brisk walk from Broadview.

The North Adelaide reserve precinct includes walking and bridle trails, swimming pools, a public golf course, the Adelaide Oval - acknowledged as one of the most beautiful and picturesque test cricket grounds in the world - the Adelaide Zoo, Botanic Gardens and picnic grounds flanking the Torrens River and lake.
