Lockleys

Lockleys lies just a few kilometres upstream of the point where the Torrens River, which flows through the suburb, discharges into Gulf St Vincent. The suburb's southern boundary flanks Kooyonga golf course and the city is just a short public transport shuttle to the east.

The suburb is also central to some of Adelaide's finest metropolitan beaches, including Henley, West and Grange where you will find Sturt's Cottage, built in 1840 for famous explorer Captain Charles Sturt. Under the stewardship of the Charles Sturt Memorial Museum Trust, the preserved cottage contains a number of the explorers' personal possessions which are complemented by a collection of period furniture.

The local beaches are true playgrounds, both in and out of the sparklingly clear sea. The grass-topped dune system running north from West Beach is a gateway top picnic lawns, an adventure playground adjoining the local sailing club, a holiday village and a marina.
