Novar Gardens

Sandwiched between historic Glenelg - birthplace of South Australian statehood - and the Glenelg golf course, the bayside suburb of Novar Gardens is within a few minutes drive of Adelaide's most popular metropolitan beaches. It also borders the Holdfast Bay estuary. Holdfast Shores is home to a moored replica of HMS Buffalo the ship from which the state's first European settlers waded ashore in 1836 to listen as the proclamation of statehood was read from the shade of a gum tree that still stands today. This is part of coastal Adelaide where history sits comfortably with modern shops, restaurants, holiday resorts, marinas, theme parks and a wide range of recreational and sports facilities. You can make the grand, self-guided Glenelg tour by foot (3.5km) or by car in which you can use your radio to tune in on the FM band to 92mh to listen to recorded stories of featured sites on the self-guided driving tour.
