Rosewater

Rosewater is just a gentle stroll from the Festival City's epicentre of history, Port Adelaide. This is heady territory, brimming with living reminders of the golden days of sail, story-tellers and the singular, salty charm that is common to major ports the world over.

The heritage walk and gallery trails will bring you back to the historical centre, the Maritime Museum, whose displays and exhibits are topped off by a resident ship and a lighthouse presenting sweeping views of the Port River, city and Adelaide Hills.

Not that the Maritime Museum stands alone in the history of the port precinct. Train buffs will find a world of magic in the Port Dock Station and Semaphore Railway, while the ghosts of those daring young men in their flying machines stalk the South Australian Historical Aviation Museum.

The regular Sunday market by the lighthouse is a popular hunting ground for antiques, books and bric-a-brac, while local fishermen and gardeners also sell fresh produce on the Sabbath from their Torrens Island stalls.
