Grange

One of Adelaide's select beachside suburbs, Grange not only offers safe swimming and links golf, but you can dine regally in groovy, gourmet, al fresco restaurants and cafes with sea backdrops. And, if you are tempted to over-indulge, a stroll along the shoreline will burn off the excess.

Anchoring Grange's place in South Australian history is Sturt's Cottage which was built in 1840 for that indomitable explorer and pioneer, Captain Charles Sturt. Managed by the Charles Sturt Memorial Museum Trust, the cottage completes the leap back in time with period furnishings and some of the explorer's own belongings.

To Grange's immediate north are West Lakes - adjudged the 'best residential development in the world in 1992' - and Largs Bay, the last metropolitan refuge of the red capped plover.

The Adelaide Shores resort complex to the south on West Beach offers golf, tennis, boating and swimming, while the same beach also hosts the Woolshed theme park.
